Solid Waste Management

Mission

The Snoqualmie Indian Tribe (SIT) has developed the Snoqualmie Tribal Integrated Solid Waste Management Plan to oversee the generation, disposal, and transportation of solid waste. The plan will allow the SIT to accommodate needs of future Reservation development and coordinate between tribal departments on issues of solid waste.

The goal of the Solid Waste and Recycling program is to increase environmental protection by:

      • Reducing the amount of waste being sent to the landfill by increasing recycling and composting
      • Prevent recyclables from entering the disposal stream.
      • Coordinate hazardous waste management on the Reservation in the most environmentally responsible way and to determine current and potential environmental risk at hazardous waste sites.
      • Prevent illegal dumping on tribal lands
      • Increase public awareness of solid waste issues through educational and information opportunities.
